Earth Time

Some scientists believe that the entity of time is a physical property. It is obvious that time did not always exist. If time is eternal, then this moment would have already happened, long, long ago, eternally long ago. Now could not happen because it already happened long ago. Bizarre, I know. If time did not have a beginning, it could not exist. Earth creatures cannot handle eternity or infinite concepts. Time had a beginning. When? “In the beginning” (Gen 1:1). In the beginning of what? At the creation of anything. Anything that began to exist, starts time. The Bible tells us that the Sons of God saw the creation of the earth (Job 38:4-7). Therefore, they existed before the earth began. They were created to inhabit the spirit realm.

The “physics” of that realm are very different from the physics that we know. If you hold a small box (ex: a Rubik's cube) in your hand, you could only see 3 sides of it at a time. If you move the cube so you see a new side, one of the three original sides disappears from sight so you can still see only three sides. In the spirit realm things are different. You could see 6 sides at once. If needed, you could see at least 12 sides at once (6 outer plus 6 inner sides). If time is a property of created or “begun” things, then time in the spirit realm is different than time on the earth, as you and I know it.

If time is a physical property (4th physical dimension), time starts when something is created, when it begins. If I bought a new car 2 years ago, how old is it? Two years old. If I need to wait 4 or 5 years to save up money to but a new car, how old is it? It has no age because the factory has not even designed it yet. If a baby is 3 months old, how old is it? We generally think of time starting for a child when it is born.

Eternal things do not have time. They are outside of it. “Unbeginningness” does not produce time, only something that is temporal or subject to change (visible or invisible). “In the beginning God created.” If time is a property of matter, then material creation began earth-time.

Some theorists have described time as the fourth dimension in a three dimensional universe. There is a semi-humorous statement that says, Time is God's way of making sure that everything does not happen at once. That remark might seem like a joke but it really is the reason for the creation of the entity known as time. The Absolute One needs a short delay in between disobedience and consequence in order to show mercy. If sin and judgment were at the same moment, all things in existence that were unlike God would be vaporized instantly, including you and I.

You have no doubt heard that “there is no time or distance in the spirit”. I have said that myself many times. I no longer believe that to be accurate. There is time in the spirit realm. It is just that it is different than earth-time, since the “physics” of that place are so different than what we know. If you could enter the very heart of God, you would discover timelessness. He is The Eternal One, The God who dwells outside of His creation, outside of time.

And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. (Rev 12:9)

The book of Revelation describes war in heaven.

Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time. (Rev 12:12)

The Devil and his angels are cast out of the heavenly realm to the earth. All of a sudden, time is taken very seriously. Spirit-time is over, whatever that entails. At the proper moment, Earth-time begins for the Devil. Somehow, he knows that it means that the space he has to operate in is very much smaller than it was previously. For the Devil, earth-time will have begun. The stopwatch is ticking differently than it was for him earlier.

The Devil knows that when earth-time for him begins, the opportunity to act is very short. The time for us is very short also. Jesus spoke to me in 1979 and said, “I am coming soon”. More years have passed since that moment than I have thought would be. Today, the return of the Lord is very soon. While the timing of His return is important, there is something much more important than When? How are we going to meet the Lord? Are we prepared to leave our life here and to go to stand before the Lord? Nothing in all of our existence could be more important than that.
