Solomon - Prophetic Type
of
Messiah in His Earthly Kingdom
and
Antichrist

Solomon succeeded to the throne of Israel after his father David died. He was a man of peace – in comparison to his father. It was sung in legendary songs that David had killed ten thousands of enemies. Since God considered David to be a man of blood, he was not allowed to build a temple for God. David made great material provision for his son Solomon to build the temple.
A Type of Messiah
Solomon started off wondrously, as a young king. He had a humble heart toward God. He loved the Lord and walked in the ways of his father David – mostly (1 Kings 3:3).
Solomon reigned in an era of peace with surrounding countries. War with neighboring armies was non-existent in Solomon's rule. Nonetheless, he had several individuals put to death. He was a type of Christ in His earthly Kingdom or the Kingdom of Heaven. Jesus, as Messiah, in His political 1,000 year reign will rule all the nations of the earth “with a rod of iron” (Rev 2:27). Death will be rare but not impossible.
Christ will rule as Absolute Dictator. Infractions of His rule will be severely dealt with. No more Mr. Nice Guy. The Age of Grace will be over. Today, people cannot imagine Jesus ruling with no mercy. Mercy is for this Age. Like Solomon, Christ will put transgressors to death with no ceremony or trial. He will reign in this manner over all the nations of the earth.
Transition
Solomon was the greatest king Israel ever had, in terms of riches and opulence. He was wealthy, as God had promised him. But when the 666 talents of gold (equal to about $USD 4 billion) annually and its related excesses are mentioned (1 Kings 10:14), everything in the scriptural record begins to reveal a very different situation.
The precise mention of the annual 666 talents of gold that came to Solomon reveals the means by which the downfall of this great king came about.
The New Testament 666 (Rev 13:18) tells us who but only at the proper time. The number will confirm the identity of the Final Antichrist in the last days, after all Scriptural prophecies line up. The Old Testament 666 (1 Kings 10:14, 15) tells us not who but how this system works.
Moses (Deut 17:16, 17) commanded the Israelites that when then would set a king over themselves, in the future, there were four things that the king must not do:
He must not greatly increase wealth for himself
He must not cause the people to return to Egypt, especially for sake of the horse trade
He must not multiply horses for himself
He must not multiply wives for himself
It seems that God permitted a little personal wealth, a few horses, and even a few wives. Knowing all this, what did Solomon do?
He greatly increased his personal wealth and flaunted it
He imported horses and chariots from Egypt as a matter of regular business
He had 12,000 horsemen
He had 700 domestic wives and 300 “recreational” wives
A Type of the Final Antichrist
The name Solomon is equal to 1260 in Greek letters. That is the length of the Beast's reign. So, does that mean that Solomon is the Antichrist? Of course not but it means that he is a type of the man of the destruction (2 Thess 2:3).
Solomon's sin was not wealth (that God promised him) but in what those gifts were able to bring. His annual side hustle gave him 666 talents of gold beside taxes and the business of the kingdom. This excessive wealth was the system that enabled his downfall. It involved covenants and treaties with Egypt, horses for military might, and his many wives who eventually turned his heart away from the Lord (1 Kings 11:4).
In all these things Solomon showed no concern for the commands of God. Yet there was something more. Something which hurt the heart of God deeply:
And the LORD was angry with Solomon, because his heart was turned from the LORD God of Israel, which had appeared unto him twice, (1 Kings 11:9)
Solomon is prefect prototype of turning from God, not in ignorance but in full knowledge.
That is why God will cast the Antichrist into the lake of fire (Rev 19:20 20:10) without any trial. He knows exactly what it is all about.
