The Fourth Member of The Quadrinity

There really is no such word in the Bible as “Trinity”. That is used by theologians to try to describe how the nature of God looks to us humans.

For some reason the devil hates the idea of the Trinity. I am not sure why. Maybe he could not be “like the most High”.

I (Satan or someone worse) will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. (Isa 14:14).

It does not seem like he wants to destroy God. He just wants to be like Him, as a member of the Trinity or corporate Godhead. Now when he sees that someone new is going to join the Godhead, the devil is insane with rage.

Have you heard of the fourth member of the Quadrinity? Where did that word come from? It is not in the Bible. I just made it up, but it describes something that Jesus said.

21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.

22 And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:

23 I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one (unity); and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me. (John 17)

Jesus asked that the oneness of the believers with God would be just like that of Jesus with the Father. Instead of the devil becoming part of the Godhead, that privilege will be given to someone else. Humans (who are believers) will become one with God. He has given us His own life. The devil wanted this position. No wonder he is enraged with men. You may have thought that the that the devil gives us a bad day. No, he wants to damn you everlastingly and eternally, if he can find any way to do it. Not that the devil has any control over the lake of fire. It was prepared especially for him (Matt 25:41). He just wants every man to have the same unending fate as he will. His hate is greater than we can understand.

But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit. (1 Cor 6:17)

In an illustration I have used before, take 2 glasses of water. Pour them into a pitcher. Now, return the original water back into the glasses again. Impossible. When we are joined to the Lord you cannot tell where the person ends and the Spirit of God “begins”. That which is true of our reborn spirit is the same as what is said of the Holy Spirit. They are one. Our unity with God is beyond description. Our oneness with the Spirit of God is beyond human understanding.

Therefore the question begs to be asked.

Do we become God?

No. We do not become something or someone other than who we are. A human never becomes God, though he experiences a oneness with him that is remarkable and far beyond comprehension.

But the distinction remains.

We are to be “one in us” as Jesus prayed, yet the distinction remains.

As in the idea of Trinity, the oneness of God is absolute, yet the distinction remains. The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are God and remain so in their distinction and in their oneness. We remain who we are in oneness and in distinction. We do not become God.

I doubt that the word Quadrinity will catch on. It probably should not but the prayer of Jesus in John 17 will be answered.

[I discovered that the word Quadrinity is in use. They use it to refer to “the four aspects of self”. I really do not know much about it. I do not know if it is beneficial or not. Jesus said that the self life will be destroyed (John 12:25). Obviously, I am referring to something completely different here.]
