Failure of High Technology and Electricity

According to some experts, the United States' electricity production and distribution method is hanging by a thread. Supposedly, the electric grid is highly subject to an EMP (ElectroMagnetic Pulse) attack.

An electromagnetic pulse (EMP), also referred to as a transient electromagnetic disturbance (TED), is a brief burst of electromagnetic energy. The origin of an EMP can be natural or artificial, and can occur as an electromagnetic field, as an electric field, as a magnetic field, or as a conducted electric current. The electromagnetic interference caused by an EMP can disrupt communications and damage electronic equipment.

The first recorded damage from an electromagnetic pulse came with the solar storm of August 1859, or the Carrington Event.

In modern warfare, weapons delivering a high energy EMP pulse are designed to disrupt communications equipment, the computers needed to operate modern warplanes, or even put the entire electrical network of a target country out of commission. Wikipedia

Some say that even a small attack against our electric grid can neutralize the entire country. What if an EMP attack or something similar were to occur? What if we had no electricity? Or, what if some kind of attack against electronics rendered them useless? We may enter into a new epoch. It might be the modern day “low tech” era.

When we have had the electricity go off for a few hours or a few days, we might find ourselves greatly inconvenienced. I have found myself going toward my office room to use the computer since the TV will not work. It is only then that I remember that none of our devices will work. We are so used to our electronic things. Some age groups will be affected more than others.

I am in my sixties. I am often shocked to realize how much my generation has even acclimated itself to our electronic devices. How much more younger people are dependent on cell phones and such. If we experience permanent loss of electricity and electronic functions, future archaeologists a few centuries from now may dig up thousand of skeletons which each of them holding a flat rock, like a security blanket. The loss of cell phones would be devastating but people from the future may not be able to interpret these things with the skeletons they dig up.

Many speculate or even insist that the mark of the beast (Rev 13:16) will involve a microchip planted beneath the skin. Super high resolution cameras will monitor all movement from every person on earth. Cell phone microphones will monitor every word spoken by every human on the planet. Wait a minute...we are already there.

New government monetary systems will monitor every financial transaction a person might try to make. Thus, total control is achieved of every action of every person on the planet. (Maybe not the indigenous people in the Amazon rain forest.) This looks like it certainly may be probable. However, there is another scenario that is also a possibility.

Welcome to the Stone Age

It looks as if high technology in our day has been necessary to set things up. What if it fails suddenly? Everything will be different, especially warfare.

A few governments and armies may be able to develop mobile weapons. While most everyone will be very limited in their military equipment, some more wealthy groups may be able to build extremely dangerous tools that have their electronics very heavily shielded from attack. Laser-like weapons are developed that will make all metal unusable. The successful, well equipped soldier will have a horse instead of a tank. Even the horse will not be able to have anything metal in its bridle. Everything has to be made of plastic. Real warriors will be reduced to rocks and sharp sticks.

Warfare would now be reduced to how it was in ancient days. A soldier and his opponent were involved in hand to hand combat. You had to grab onto the tunic of the other man to stick him with your sword, now a sharp stick or maybe plastic spear. You could see the bloodshot eyes of your enemy and even smell his breath. I have never been in the military but I imagine a soldier with his feet up on the console of a warship. While eating a sandwich, he receives an order to launch a missile. He does not miss a chew on his sandwich while he pushed the red button. With his feet resting up on the console again, the missile hits its target 300 miles away. I know that this is not realistic but modern warfare can be softer, in a sense, compared to the brutal personal combat one had to be involved with in olden times.

The battlefield is full of horses. Soldiers are throwing stones and fighting with sticks. Perhaps a few armies are able to quickly construct war engines and catapults out of wood with plastic screws. The vultures are gathering overhead. It looks like a scene from the days of the Roman Empire or maybe “cave men” throwing stones at each other.

[I understand that now there are microwave weapons that render even non-metalic substances like human bodies and horses incapacitated. Super bummer.]

On the home scene, things are low-tech also. Computers were going to provide control of every person, but now what? Computers and electronic equipment will be piled up on the junk heap; useless. The totalitarians are forced to use a visible mark like a tattoo to keep control. Anyone without a visible tattoo indicating their submission to the government is immediately recognized and dealt with. There is no such thing as “off the grid”. There is no grid. To be suddenly thrown back into the Stone Age, so to speak, would cause chaos everywhere. It will almost justify martial law.

Some prophets have seen exactly this. I am not certain but I do sense very strongly that at least a part of the world will see these things. Do not be afraid but trust in the Lord in these days.
