What Will The End Times Look Like?
I recently saw a YouTube video thumbnail that was very alluring. The caption was “What will the End Times look like?”. (I watched the entire video and it never did touch upon that. Typical marketing.) However, the question was very interesting to me. What will the End Times look like? I am convinced of this: If we will look back, after the fact, the fulfillment of Bible prophecy will be exactly as God said but never as people imagine it is going to be. Why? Because of thousands of years of it being precisely that way.
At Jesus' first coming in Bethlehem, the scribes knew exactly what the Scriptures said about the Messiah's birth. But that certainly could not be under today's circumstances, they thought. The Messiah's birth must look like something else. Perhaps they had a particular scenario in mind that would take place on that special day. So, it cannot look like now. It must be some other day.
When Jesus presented himself to the nation of Israel, the leaders thought that the coming of the Messiah would look differently than it did.
And shall lay thee (Jerusalem) even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation. (Luke 19:44)
With the video of how Messiah's appearance would look playing in their minds, the Messiah stood right before them and they could not recognize Him. Don't be harsh against the Jewish leaders of the nation, it happens all the time. When the fulfillment of prophecy or the work of God does not look as we expect it should, we dismiss it as nothing. If we have been praying for revival and it does not look like we were expecting, we often will despise the work of God.
Are we in the Tribulation “Week” right now? I'm not saying, We are. I'm saying Are we? How do we know?
Well, it just doesn't seem like it.
How is it supposed to seem?
I don't know. Just not like this.
With an attitude like that we surely will not recognize the important times of God. The only way to be sure is to diligently listen to Jesus and the Words of the Scriptures, not to how things “feel” or seem.
I chipped my tooth or My car won't start this morning so this must be the end-times week of trouble. This is totally invalid yet we often use this type of reasoning to discern spiritual things.
Jesus told us 16 times in the New Testament to watch and be ready for His return. It is what He said that carries weight, not what circumstances may feel like.
