Green GREEN Grass
It seems that whenever someone who claims to have visited heaven (and came back to tell us, of course), they all report one thing that is common to all the accounts of the spirit world: the colors.
I was granted a special glimpse into the spiritual realm. This was not very long, only a few moments. I saw a field of green grass or some other item growing in a field. My vantage point was very high up. I saw this enormous expanse of green, like a forest or a crop of plants. What struck me was the intensity of the color. It was a green that is unlike anything on this earth. I cannot say it was like something else because there is nothing to compare it to. However, I did see something in the natural that approximates what I saw in the spirit.
When I was a young boy in Minnesota, I was awake early one spring morning. Our family's kitchen window faced east. The sun had just come up. It was still at a very low angle. The lawn was fresh and a heavy dew was on the grass. The morning air was real clear. The sunrise was too bright to look at directly for more than a second.
When I did attempt a one second look out the window, it was remarkable. The low angle of the sun along with the heavy dew on the blades made it seem that light was erupting out of the blades of grass. Normally, sunlight reflects off dry grass and we see what appears as the color green. This unique morning, it seemed that the grass was producing its own indescribable light independent of reflection.
The New Jerusalem will have no need of the sun. We are not told it will not be there but there is no need of it. The physics of that place is so different from the world we know now. The sun will not reflect off dead objects giving us an artificial simulation of light. The real nature of God's creation will be alive with its own unique frequency of light and sound.
23 And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.
24 And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it.
25 And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there. (Rev 22)
