The Day of Your Death

Suppose you could know the date of your death. That information is in a sealed envelope on a desk. Would you open it?
Perhaps it would say “Next Thursday”.
No. That can't be. I feel fine. This is all nonsense.
Maybe it would say that you will live until age 107 but the last 40 years of it will be spent bedridden.
No. I don't want that!
A man was talking to another man that worked with Bible Codes. He claimed that he found the first man's name, his wife's name, her maiden name, the date of his birth (all accurately), and the date of his death all encoded in the text of a Bible passage. He asked if he wanted to know what the date of his death was. The first man shouted, “No! Don't tell me!”
Suppose you could meet with Jesus and have Him explain what the true interpretation of end times chronology is. Let's say that He says, It's Mid-trib or Post-trib or no-trib. Maybe He explains that there is only a partial rapture or no rapture at all. Suppose He says that He's is not planning on returning to earth until 2250 AD.
No! That can't be true! It'll ruin my ministry!
If Jesus says something, that is the final word. Not only are His words true, He is the Truth. How badly do we want the truth? Do we love the truth no matter what that may cost? I think most people would prefer to stay with their favorite narrative and ignore truth.
It's really not truth that we want, is it? We claim to be lovers of truth but few would be willing to thrown away their favorite end times scenario in exchange for Jesus' words. Speculation is fine. “Thus saith the Lord” when it's really “thus saith me” is not fine.
