Abraham was bummed. He had just refused a king's ransom in wealth – actually 5 kings. Now, he wasn't so sure that was a good idea. On top of that, he was an old man who had no heir. God came to Abram in a vision and said that HE was the reward (Gen 15:1), not family or riches.
In 1992 I had been promised, by a prophet, that I was going to receive a great blessing by a certain day. Money, of course – I thought. It was near midnight on the final day of the promised blessing. I was driving across the southwestern US desert. I was so disappointed that the “money” was not coming – not at night, not in the desert. Suddenly, in my spirit, I heard this song and music like an approaching army. God alone IS my shield and reward.
