Three Sentences
If you had an opportunity to share three sentences with a person who had never heard the Gospel, what would they be?
The earth was created a short time ago
Yehousushuashua is the only correct way to pronounce Jesus' name
The Rapture will be on Mothers' Day next year
What about baptism? Certainly that is important. There are a number of other themes that people are willing to die for, apparently.
There is no great tribulation because Daniel's third beast ….. (What?)
Fornication is damnable if you do it four times but if you only do it three times, it's OK
God wants you to give me all your money
Many things are important. However, if we get out of our armchair and go to the front lines of the Gospel where people do not know anything of Jesus, suddenly many of the things that people argue over in an ungodly manner are seen to be foolishness.
If I had only one chance to communicate with a person who has no knowledge of the Gospel I think I would say the following:
1) Our sin separates us from God, the Giver of Life.
2) God sent His Son Jesus to suffer and die as our substitute.
3) God raised Jesus from the dead 3 days later to say that He was satisfied with His payment on our behalf.
When a person hears that messege, he either believes it or he does not. Therein lies their eternal destiny. That's it. So simple a child can understand.
But what about the sinner's prayer and repentance and giving tithes? Many things may be important or even have value but nothing is as urgent and essential as the Gospel. Which is...?
It is the message about what God has done for man, not what man may think he is doing for God.
Of course, after a person believes in Christ there is a lifetime of important things that God wants to grow into. But if we get the foundation of the Christian life wrong...nothing else matters.
He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. (1 John 5:12)
