THE WHALES
In a dream I was on a beach. I asked the Lord, "Is my ministry going to be in the churches?" He gave me a strange reply that has personal significance only.
My attention was then directed to the ocean. I looked out some distance from the land and I saw whales jumping out of the water.
Whales look very much like fish but they are not fish. They live in the same medium (water) as fish but they are not fish. They may eat much the same thing as fish but they are a different kind of being (mammal) - very similar in appearances but the two are totally different types of animals.
You and I as believers in the Lord Jesus are whales! Yet we live in an ocean of "fish". Our temporal home is in this world. In scriptural symbolism, the sea is often a type of the mass of humanity. But although we live in the world we are totally different from those around us. We have a different walk - or wiggle. Fish propel themselves through the water by a side to side motion of their tails. Whales move through the ocean by an up and down motion of their tails.
The most important difference of all is how we obtain our life. We whales live among a throng of beings that seem happy to get their sustenance from the world in which they live. We, on the other hand, must "go up for air". We whales get our life from above. Though we live in the world we get our very breath from above. We live by a different life principle. The fish take in water. We take in air only. However, unknown to the "fish" is that they get their life from the same source as we do. The oxygen is mixed in the water, though it is practically invisible. The unsaved person does not realize that "God... is the Savior of all men" (1 Tim 4:10) and that He cares for them though they reject Him and His salvation.
How does one get to be a whale? You must be born a whale. Jesus said, "You must all be born anew (from above). The wind blows (breathes) where it will;...So it is with every one who is born of the Spirit." (John 3:7-8 Amp).
Fellow Believer, don't be a spiritual carp, sucking the muck from this world's floor. You are a different kind of being in Christ. "Seek those things which are above, where Christ is...Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth." (Col 3: 1-2)
