Reincarnation
What is it? Reincarnation is the philosophy that the spirit of a person, after death, begins a new lifespan in a different body. The Bible teaches nothing about this. It does, however, suggest something very different which we will see in a moment.
When I was 11 years old I had a bizarre experience that may illustrate a principal that humans face. For some reason, my heart began racing wildly and then abruptly stopped for a few moments. I was instantly at the ceiling of the very tall room I was in. I could see all the people in the room. I could see my family. I could see myself, still standing. I quickly returned to my body which then collapsed. This experience does not prove anything but it may illustrate that in the case of sudden death (when the heart quits) the spirit of a person is evicted from the body before the carcass hits the floor. That is fast.
Reports of NDEs (Near-Death Experiences) are popular today. Some are true. Some are confusion and error. Some are manipulated by spiritual evil. The people who report these often come back with some new teaching or doctrine. It is important to remember that NDEs are not death experiences They are near death experiences. They go up to the edge of departure but then come back. The Bible gives us only one account of an actual death experience. In Luke 16 Jesus tells about an unnamed man who closed his eyes in death and opened them in a place of torments. That is fast. This seems to be the required occurrence for humans. The instant that the complex chemical reaction, which we recognize as biological life, has ended, the immaterial part of the person is immediately evicted and it must leave the realm of living people. It is my opinion that this is faster than instantaneous. The Bible does not say that you will die someday only to be recast as another person or life form.
Humans are not the only intelligent beings on this planet. While deceased humans are exiled from the earth immediately upon their death, there is another type of being that is left abandoned on the earth. The extraordinary men of Genesis 6 were killed in the Flood. In fact, that is the reason for the Flood. However, when they were killed their spirits were not evicted but left abandoned on the earth, disembodied. They wander through desolate places desiring to inhabit a body again. Even pain and negative things would be better than being disembodied. When they do find someone to possess, they are eventually disembodied again due to the death of their host. Then they seek another person to dwell in. And so on throughout the centuries. The most likely new host would be a younger family member of the newly deceased, hence things such as demonic troubles appear to be generational. These spirits of the ancient Nephilim do get “reincarnated” in a sense, perhaps hundreds of times.
In Matthew 8 an entity that identified a demon mass as Legion (Mark 5:9, Luke 8:30) says to Jesus that it isn't time yet for them to be tormented. Therefore, Nephilim spirits are abandoned to roam the earth until a future date which they seem to have an approximate knowledge of.
People who claim they are the reincarnation of someone always claim it is a famous person (Cleopatra, King Solomon, etc). Never as some guy named Fred from Ohio who was on disability. Strange how that works. One thing that is often employed to “prove” that they are Grandma or some famous person is knowledge they have that only the dead person could know. The deceiving spirit is not Grandma or Cleopatra. Upon death they were evicted downward or ushered upward. How can the person claiming reincarnation have such private knowledge? The spirit inhabiting the living body is familiar with the deceased. They have been operating for thousands of years. They may even have had personal knowledge of the dead person or they get it from other spirits that do.
And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: (Heb 9:27)
Humans only die once. Demons may see their hosts die many times. The first time was at the Flood of Noah's day, about 5,000 years ago. The last time will be when the soldiers at the final battle (Rev 20:9) are destroyed. There will be no reincarnation that time. They will finally be exiled to the lake of fire and brimstone (v. 20) that Jesus said was the place especially prepared for them (Matt 25:41).
You and I have one life. This fact really is important. There is no second chance. Jesus is the second chance.
And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish,... (John 10:28)
Do business with God in your heart today.
